Q. What is the Teachers Planner all about?

A. The Teachers Planner is an easy to use software application which is just like the traditional paper planner or diary that teachers use to plan lessons. It's packed full of useful features all designed to save you time.

Q. What are the benefits of using the Teachers Planner?

A. The Teachers Planner has loads of benefits over the paper based planner. Once you have entered your timetable and term dates, the Teachers Planner automatically shows you the classes you teach on each day of the term. It provides registration pages preconfigured with the dates you teach each class. The Teachers Planner is packed full of other time saving features helping you to organise your time and your lessons. Including a great marks book in the advance version.

Q. I am not very experienced in using computers, how easy is it to use?

A. The Teachers Planner suits even the novice computer user. It has the look and feel of a traditional paper planner. Buttons on the Front Cover provide easy navigation to all of the time saving features.

Q. Can I get a printout of my lesson plans?

A. Yes! All pages in the Teachers Planner have a print option on the File menu.

Q. How do I buy the Teachers Planner?

A. To buy a license for the Teachers Planner, simply choose your version and read the information on the purchasing page.

Q. I would like all the teachers in the school to use Teachers Planner. What licensing options are available?

A. Licenses are available for 10 users, 40 users and for a whole school site. The purchasing page gives the prices for the different license options.

Q. The planner we currently use has our school logo on the front and special pages inserted for the school. Can the Teachers Planner be customised in this way?

A. Yes. A school logo can be included on the Front Cover and a school can provide up to 16 different sections to be added to the planner. See Contact and Ordering for prices.

Q. Does the Teachers Planner have a marks book?

A. Yes, but only in the Teachers Planner advanced version. A straight forward grid is set up for each class which allows you to record all of your assessment information. But you can also insert columns which calculate percentages and rank pupil results for you! Extra pages are also easy to add for each class allowing you to separate homeworks from assessments etc.

Q. How long does it take to set up the Teachers Planner before I can use it?

A. It usually takes about 15 minutes to set up the Teachers Planner. You will need to enter the start and end dates of student terms and half terms, any additional holidays and non-teaching days. You will also enter your personal timetable. This information allows the Teachers Planner to display exactly the information you need, when you need it.

Q. At the start of the year my school has class lists available in excel. Can I copy and paste into my registration pages?

A. Yes. You can copy and paste any class list into both the registration pages and into the new marks book available in Teachers Planner advanced, as long as the software application you are coming from supports the Windows clip board, e.g. like Microsoft excel and word.

Q. Does the Teachers Planner support a two week timetable?

A. Yes. You can select from a one week or two week timetable repeat.

Q. I don't have my own classroom, will teachers planner display room information?

A. Under the timetable button is a feature which takes your room allocations and displays that room against the specific class and period through the year. A quick and easy way to remind yourself and it's simple to update.

Q. Will Teachers Planner work with all computers?

A. The minimum recommended specification for using Teachers Planner is a PC with a Pentium II or equivalent, 20 MB hard drive space,  64MB memory, SVGA, CD Rom drive. Windows XP, 2000, XP Tablet Edition and Windows Vista.

Q. Can I back up all the information I enter into my Teacher’s Planner?

A. Yes. The Teacher’s Planner has a back up feature easily accessible by clicking on the Utilities button from the front page.

Q. Can the Planner store detailed lesson plans?

A. In the Teachers Planner a special link to resources feature has been added. This allows you to quickly access plans which have been developed using any other programs on your system, including word, excel or access. It even quickly links to websites or Smart Board resources.

Q. I am using an evaluation version of the Teachers Planner and I have entered my set up information into it and started using it. I want to buy the Teacher’s Planner, will I have to set it up all over again?

A. No. Your set up information and everything you have entered into the Teachers Planner will still be available to you. On receipt of your payment, we will issue you with a registration key which will “unlock” your planner.

Q. I really like using the Teachers Planner and I have some ideas about new features for it. How can I tell you about them?

A. Please contact us. We always like to hear any feedback and suggestions from our customers.

Q. Can I use the Teachers Planner at home?

A. Yes. When you purchase Teachers Planner the license agreement allows you to load Teachers Planner onto your computer at school and at home. All you need to synchronise your diaries is a portable pen drive to back up and restore your data.

Q. I would like to run the Teachers Planner from a removable hard disk or pen drive plugged into my school computer. Is this possible?

A. No. Teachers Planner requires to be loaded onto your computer to safely record the information you are writing on a day-to-day basis.

Q. Can I pay for Teachers Planner by credit card?

A. Yes. We will send you a secure electronic invoice through Pay Pal and as soon as we receive your details your new Teachers Planner will be despatched.

Q. Does the Teachers Planner need a database program such as Microsoft Access loaded on my computer to enable it to run?

A. No. Teachers Planner is a completely stand alone software solution.

Q. Can Teachers Planner be loaded onto a server?

A. The Teachers Planner has been made to be as easy to use, reliable and quick to run as possible. It is designed to be loaded as an individual Teachers Planner on individual computers.
Schools can benefit by purchasing a whole school license and loading it onto every desktop and laptop in the school where appropriate. Teachers can save their planner by backing it up onto the school server if they have an individual workspace. Teachers can then access their planner anywhere it has been loaded in the school, subject to the constraints of individual server configurations.

Q. Is the Planner a yearly purchase?

A. Yes. You do need to purchase the Teachers Planner on a yearly basis just like a paper planner.
Two main reasons:

  • A teacher's timetable changes every year so all of the calendar must be updated.

  • It keeps the cost of the Teachers Planner affordable for every teacher.
